Bernafon

Bernafon, a Swiss company, is the sister to Oticon. Both are owned by the William Demant company in Denmark and work in much the same way as Phonak and it’s sister company, Unitron. They are fierce competitors and this has led to some amazing developments in technology.

Among the technologies they have developed was to “Channel Free” digital processor, which removes definite separation points between various channels of frequencies. After assuming the assets of Bernafon, Oticon took that technology even further. As a result they have developed the Alta 1 chip, which, if you are a music fan, provides the most clear musical signal available on the market today. This chip is the preferred technology for those who consider themselves Audiophiles, but have some degree of hearing loss. It is the equivalent of a loss free digital file for music.
